Proposal Form
Tyler made an initial call for proposals for our Interdisciplinary Fund for this academic year in the spring. We have some funds left over for projects to be funded in the spring semester. These are funds from our allocation of General Activity Fees (GAF), and projects can be proposed by any member of the Tyler community (i.e., faculty, including adjuncts, staff, and students).
The next deadline for this funding will be Monday, November 26. You will be notified if your application is successful before the end of the Fall semester. If you were successful you will have the semester break to collaboratively prepare your event with colleagues. If you do not have time to submit an application this Fall there will be other opportunities in the Spring for the next academic year (2019-2020).
After the proposals are in, students from the Dean’s Student Advisory Council will review the proposals and decide which projects to fund. At this point the fund has a budget of just under $5,000 to fund additional projects for spring.
Because we are using GAF money, there are specific guidelines any proposal must follow in order to receive funding:
- Proposed projects must be open to any student at Temple University. Projects geared mainly to grad students or undergrad students are less likely to get funded. Projects should have a broad appeal. Projects with limited participants are allowed as long as any Temple student has an equal chance of participation, but the more students for whom the project appeals, the higher the chance for funding. Projects may be open to the public.
- Proposed projects should be interdisciplinary in nature. You are specifically encouraged to involve non-Tyler departments in your planning. Non-Tyler departments are not required to provide funding, but should contribute input to increase the chances of a broad appeal to students.
- GAF funds may be used for honorariums, bus trips open to any student, books/tshirts/prizes as long as any student has an equal opportunity of getting/winning, travel for speakers, and receptions that are open to anyone.
- GAF funds may not be used for closed events, dinners, and anything where alcohol is served.
- GAF funds may not be used for student group events, although students IN a specific student group may propose an event that is open to all students (example: TUFMA is planning a Halloween Movie using GAF funds this week. Students in the group are planning the movie, but any student at Temple may attend. GAF funds are used for the food at the event).
Use this form to make your proposal by Monday, November 25 at 5 pm. You do not need to have everything nailed down in order to propose a project–you just need to propose the project. Planning assistance will be provided to students to organize a project if needed.
