Vietnamese American Pharmacists Educating the Vietnamese Community about Stroke<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nh\u00f3m d\u01b0\u1ee3c s\u0129 cung c\u1ea5p ki\u1ebfn th\u1ee9c v\u1ec1 b\u1ec7nh \u0111\u1ed9t qu\u1ef5 t\u1edbi c\u1ed9ng \u0111\u1ed3ng ng\u01b0\u1eddi Vi\u1ec7t<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viet-Capacity started on June 4th, 2022, as a project for Vietnamese American Pharmacists and other Healthcare professionals to come together to discuss the importance of stroke awareness within the Vietnamese community in Philadelphia. These professionals included Temple University faculty, alums, and students from the different schools within the Health and Sciences Campus, from the Temple University School of Pharmacy to the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.
From August 2022 through July 2024, pharmacists and pharmacy students were trained to reach the Vietnamese community’s core with the importance of stroke education through various events, such as health fairs and community outreach in local community centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van Hellerslia, PharmD, is a clinical associate professor at Temple University School of Pharmacy, assistant professor at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and clinical pharmacist at the Department of Neurology at Temple University Hospital. She is the primary investigator of Viet-Capacity and her expertise includes neuro pharmacotherapy, including stroke care, and she is Vietnamese speaking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tina Tran, PharmD is an assistant professor at Temple University School of Pharmacy in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Her expertise includes health services and outcomes research, implementation science research, and pharmacotherapy. Dr. Tran is Vietnamese speaking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Ruchalski, PharmD is a clinical professor at Temple University School of Pharmacy and a clinical pharmacist at the Stroke Prevention Clinic and the Temple University Neurology Clinic. His expertise includes stroke prevention and pharmacotherapy. Additionally, he has ten years of experience working in global health efforts in Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Mullen, MD is an associate professor at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine in the Department of Neurology. Additionally, he is the director of Comprehensive Stroke Services at Temple University Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grace Ma, PhD is the associate dean for Health Disparity at Temple University, a Laura H. Carnell professor in Urban Health and Population Science, founding director of the Center for Asian Health, and vice chair in the Department of Urban Health & Population Science. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van Bich Thi Tran is the Public Health and Social Sciences Librarian at Temple Libraries.  She joins Temple from the Harvard Kennedy School, where she was the Senior Research and Data Librarian. Prior to that, she was the Open Educational Resources and Open Access Adjunct Librarian at LaGuardia Community College, City University of New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erika Feeney, MS is the research associate for the Viet-Capacity program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
