Keynote: Urban greening in the global North and South: Green cities for all or enclaves of environmental privilege?

Dr. Isabelle Anguelovski will be our keynote speaker. She is social scientist trained in urban studies and planning (PhD MIT, 2011), non-profit management (Harvard University, 2004), international development (Université de Paris 1-Panthéon Sorbonne, 2001), and political studies (Science Po, 2000). Her research is situated at the intersection between urban planning and policy, social inequality, and development studies. She is an ICREA Research Professor at the Institute for Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) where she coordinates the research line Cities and Environmental Justice and co-directs the Barcelona Lab for Urban Environmental Justice and Sustainability. Since June 2016, Isabelle is also coordinating the EU (ERC-funded) project GREENLULUS (2016-2021), which examines the social and racial impact of urban greening in 40 cities in Europe, Canada, and the United States.
