Crossways Preserve Meadow Restoration – Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association

Description

This seven acre site was dominated by a variety of invasive plant species. Multiflora rose was mechanically removed and herbaceous invasives removed by spray herbicide. Existing native pioneer trees such as Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus Virginiana) were not removed. The site was replanted with a native meadow seed mix using a seed drill. The resulting savannah-like meadow creates wildlife habitat, expands biodiversity and enhances stormwater infiltration.
