Description
Paper Mill Run is an unnamed tributary of the Wissahickon Creek in northwest Philadelphia and Montgomery County. Large runoff volumes contributed from the stream’s 2.5 square mile watershed have caused significant streambank erosion, and the sediment that has washed into the stream during storm events has reduced the stream’s water quality. This project proposes to reduce erosion by stabilizing the streambank along Paper Mill Run. In addition to the gabion walls that line sections of the creek from the duck pond to the stone bridge, a riparian buffer will be installed along the length of the stream from the stone bridge on the walking trail near the Phil-Mont Christian Academy to Paper Mill Road.
The overall goals of this project are to reduce erosion and improve water quality. This project is expected to be completed in Spring 2012.
