Here is a summary of responsibilities for each TUPA Officer. All positions become open for nominations in February, with elections every March. No prior experience is required to serve as a TUPA Officer!

President & Vice President
- Chair monthly TUPA meetings
- Oversee officer elections and filling officer vacancies
- With the Outreach & Advocacy Officer, maintain relationships with administrators, faculty members, and alumni who support TUPA
- Work with Secretary and Communications Officer to respond to incoming e-mails and maintain a TUPA membership roll
- Meet with subcommittees as needed to advance TUPA’s mission
Secretary
- Create and distribute an agenda for monthly TUPA meetings
- Schedule rooms (or manage Zoom link) for monthly TUPA meetings
- Record minutes at each TUPA meeting
- Organize and maintain TUPA documents in Google Drive
- Work with Presidents and Communications Officer to respond to incoming e-mails and maintain a TUPA membership roll
Treasurer
- Develop an annual budget, with input from other officers
- Keep track of all funds that TUPA receives and report the budget status at each TUPA meeting
- Work with the Office for the Vice President of Research to disperse funds for approved expenditures
- Work with Events Coordinators to determine a budget for each event
- Develop and delegate fundraising strategies
Co-Events Coordinators
- Schedule and coordinate monthly social events, with the help of other officers and TUPA committee, and report updates at each TUPA meeting
- Maintain contact with other postdoc associations in Philadelphia to plan joint events
- Work with the Communications Officer to advertise each event
- Work with the Treasurer to determine a budget for each event
- Help organize professional development events twice a year
Advocacy & Outreach Officer
- Coordinate efforts to gain more visibility for postdoc work and value across campus, with the Communications Officer
- Coordinate outreach and advocacy efforts with other groups on and off campus
- Help recruit and orient new TUPA members
- Gather data to help identify issues postdocs are facing informally (by speaking with postdocs) or formally (using surveys)
- With the Presidents, maintain relationships with administrators, faculty members, and alumni who support TUPA
Communications Officer
- Maintain TUPA website, removing dated information and keeping all pages up to date
- Administrate forums for communication among postdocs, including Slack and WhatsApp
- Update TUPA social media accounts regularly
- Work with Secretary and Presidents to respond to incoming e-mails and maintain a TUPA membership roll
- Work with the Event Coordinators to advertise each event
- Coordinate efforts to gain more visibility for postdoc work and value across campus, with the Advocacy & Outreach Officer
Webmaster
- Maintain the TUPA website, keeping images, posts and calendars up to date
- Update layout and links to maintain user friendliness, professional image, functionality, etc.
- Improve website aesthetics and functionality for better accessibility
