Club Mission

Why is hiking important?

Hiking can help us improve our health and fitness while also allowing us to enjoy and appreciate nature. Not to mention, going on hikes over the semester might help you relax while enjoying breathtaking views.

Anyone looking to experience Japan’s nature and landscape through various walking and hiking trails can join our club.

About 68% of Japan is covered in forests, providing many opportunities for hiking and exploration. It may be uncomfortable and stressful to navigate Tokyo’s highly populated concrete jungle, including the Sangenjaya neighborhood where TUJ is located.

However, Tokyo is also home to stunning parks and mountains that are teeming with serenity and the beauty of nature.

Our Club’s Purpose

The club’s purpose is to provide TUJ students the opportunity to see Japan’s natural beauty and interact with new people so they won’t have to go on hikes by themselves or miss out.

Hiking trips will be mainly planned around the Greater Tokyo Area, consisting mostly of Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba.

To ensure that students can have opportunities with timely and inexpensive access, we aim to schedule activities in a variety of locations.

For instance, certain students may be able to more easily and affordably access trips scheduled in Chiba whereas students based in Saitama may not be able to.

Therefore, in order to give students opportunities to participate in hikes, we have activities planned for each prefecture.
