Hey, are you looking for something fun to do this Sunday?

Let’s go explore the Setagaya Plum Festival! ????

This is the 44th せたがや梅まつり (Setagaya Plum Festival) at Hanegi Park, a 30 minute bus/train ride from TUJ.

There will be vendors selling plum-flavored snacks, a matcha tea ceremony, a mochi pounding, and most importantly, the beautiful plum blossoms to admire.

The entire Hanegi Park is located on a small hill, and in the past, the southern slope was overgrown with bamboo grass. In 1967, 55 ume trees were planted by 55 people who were elected to the Setagaya Ward Assembly as commemorative trees.

Over time, more and more trees were planted to commemorate the anniversaries of the festival as well as the city of Setagaya.

Now, there are 650 plum trees located at Hanegi Park. They have a huge variety of trees such as the Weeping plum tree, Yaeno Ume, Chinese red plums, Hanakomi (花香実), and many more.

We will meet at the closest station, Umegaoka Station, at 11:30 on February 26th. Don’t forget to bring your camera and charge up your phone!
