Thank you for attending our walk through Meiji Jingu Park! Click here to find photos of our trip.
This is the first hike of the semester!
We want to welcome everyone to come and enjoy the winter scenery while having the chance to meet new friends and/or catch up with old ones.
And because it’s so chilly outside, how about we take a stroll through one of Tokyo’s most popular shrines?
The Meiji Jingu Shrine is a Shinto shrine found in Tokyo, Japan. It is a five minute walk from its southern gate to the iconic Harajuku district. It is dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. The shrine was built in 1920 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Emperor’s reign and has since become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Japan.
It is a place of worship for many Japanese people and also serves as a symbol of peace and harmony. It is also a delightful piece of nature that is located in one of Japan’s most populated areas.
If you have yet to participate in Hatsumode (初詣), a Japanese tradition that involves visiting your first shrine/temple of the year, this would be the perfect time to do so!
Please sign up here so that we can get an idea of how many people will be attending: https://forms.office.com/r/AxrVUxZ6jE
We will meet at the south entrance of the park at 11:30am on Sunday, February 5th. It is called the Meiji Jingu Ichino Torii. For more details, it is right outside the West Exit of the Harajuku JR station and is also across from the CAFÉ Mori no Terrace.
Everyone is welcome!
