All TUJ faculty and staff TUJ students (undergraduate*, postgraduate, and PhD candidates) from all majors *NOTE:Undergraduate students are warmly invited to submit a proposal to present at the 2026 TUJ Academic Conference. However, before submitting, please reach out to a faculty or staff member who can act as your sponsor. Sponsorship means the faculty or staff member has approved your proposal as academically rigorous and appropriate for an academic conference. Alternatively, undergraduate students may approach a faculty or staff member to co-present with. Formats Choose a format to ensure your proposal aligns with Conference goals and engages the audience effectively. Presenters should consider their content, scope, and desired level of audience interaction when choosing a format. Presentation (duration: 40-min. + 10-min. for questions)A focused talk that dives into a topic, offering insights and ideas. Best suited for empirical or conceptual research that requires explanation and analysis. Workshop (duration: 50-min.)Interactive, skills-based sessions where participants engage in discussions or roll up their sleeves to try things out and learn by doing. Lightning Talk (duration: 10-min. + 5-min. for questions)A short, focused presentation highlighting concise, provocative, or developing ideas. Poster Presentation (in-person at the Tokyo campus only)Visual presentations which visually communicate data-driven projects or technical designs. Displayed during a dedicated session for dialogue and feedback. Gallery Exhibition (in-person at the Tokyo campus only)Artworks, photography, design projects, multimedia, or other creative outputs. Abstract Requirements Each proposal must include an abstract that clearly communicates the focus and contribution of your presentation. The abstract should outline the purpose, main ideas or findings, methods or approach, and the anticipated significance or outcomes of your presentation. Please refer to the exemplar abstracts here for help with guiding the development of your proposal. Modality Presentations, workshops and lightning talks can be delivered in-person (on-site at the Tokyo campus only) or online via Zoom (from the Kyoto campus or elsewhere). Poster presentations and gallery exhibitions will take place only in-person at the Tokyo campus. HyFlex & RecordingAll presentation, workshop, and lightning talk sessions will be offered in a “HyFlex” format to support both in-person and online attendance. Since recordings help ensure accessibility and documentation, all sessions will be recorded. We understand some projects may still be in progress or pending publication; however, participation indicates consent to recording.Presenters delivering presentations, workshops and lightning talks on-site at the Tokyo campus will be be provided with access to in-classroom computers, projectors and other audio visual equipment.
