This week’s words are pronounce, camp out, hammock, and protect. The words come from the book, Our Tree Named Steve. If you would like to hear the book read aloud, watch the video below. Listen for the words and point them out to your child.
Ask your child what each word means, and if they don’t know, explain the meaning to them or show them an example. Here are easy definitions to use.
Pronounce – make a statement or say a word in the correct way.
Camp out – sleep outside with a tent or a sleeping bag.
Hammock – a bed made of canvas or of rope mesh and suspended by cords at the ends, used in the garden, camping, or on a ship.
Protect – keep safe from harm or injury. This elephant is protecting its child.
Thank you for helping your child learn new words!
