Something from Nothing

Our new words are torn, vest, pebble, and materials. Explain the words to your child.

The words come from the book Something from Nothing. Ask your child what the story was about. Watch the video to hear the story together. Listen for the words and point them out to your child.

Torn paper

Torn – tear, to pull apart. 


Vest – a piece of clothing that has no sleeves, ends at the waist, and is worn over a shirt or blouse and sometimes under a jacket.


Pebble – small, smooth, round rock.


Material – cloth. Or, anything used for building or making new things. Wood, metal, paint, and paper are examples of material.
