This week your child is learning the words hum, whimper, holler, and patient. The words come from the book Llama Llama Red Pajama. Talk about the words with your child. Watch the video below if you would like to hear the story read by the author on youtube. Listen for the words from the book and point them out to your child.
Hum is making a noise with your mouth closed. Show your child how to hum “Happy Birthday.”
To whimper is to make a little soft, crying sound. Show your child how to whimper.
To holler is to yell or shout loudly.
Patient (in this book) means to be able to stay calm when faced with pain, trouble, or a long wait. Show your child how to wait patiently. Patient can also mean a person getting treatment at a doctor.
Congratulations, you are helping your child grow a large vocabulary!
