This week your child is learning the words square, round, tent, and igloo. The words come from the book, House, Sweet House. Explain what the words mean and talk about them with your child.
Square – an object with four equal sides and four right angles. Some crackers are square. Board games might be square. Floor tiles are often square.
Round – shaped like a sphere or circle. Tires, wheels, clocks, cookies, and balls are all round.
Tent – a shelter held up by poles and rope and made of cloth or plastic. People can camp in a tent.
Igloo – a dome-shaped Eskimo house, typically built from blocks of solid snow. It would be fun to build an igloo house after a snowstorm.
Congratulations, you are helping your child grow a large vocabulary!
