Just Like Josh Gibson

This week your child is learning the words plate, bases, fielder, and glove. The words come from the book, Just Like Josh Gibson. Explain what the words mean and talk about them with your child. As you’re going through the week, try to talk about each word three times.

Home plate

Home plate – The baseball player must touch home plate to score.

Base

Base – A base is a square, usually made of rubber. Baseball players run to first base after hitting the ball.

Fielder

Baseball glove

Baseball glove – A baseball glove is worn by players to protect their hands while they play baseball.

Congratulations, you are helping your child grow a large vocabulary!
