Caps for Sale

caps-bookThis week your child is learning the words peddler, ordinary, irritate, and cap. The words come from the book Caps for Sale. Explain the words to your child.

If you would like to read the book with your children, here is a video of the book being read aloud.

A peddler is someone who goes from place to place selling small goods. The main character in Caps for Sale is a peddler who sells caps.

An ordinary person

Ordinary means common or normal, not special. Talk with your child about what they do on an ordinary day.

Irritate means to bother or upset. This little girl is irritated by her rash.

A cap is a hat – you can see the caps on the peddler’s head in the picture above. Baseball players wear caps too.

Congratulations, you are helping your child grow a large vocabulary!
