Along a Long Road

Our new words are tunnel, bridge, track, and gaining. The words come from the book Along a Long Road. Explain what the words mean to your child.

Tunnel

A tunnel is an underground passage, especially one built through a hill or under a building, road, or river.

Bridge

A bridge is a structure carrying a road, path, or railroad across a river, ravine, road, railroad, or other obstacle.

Railroad track

A track is a road or a continuous line of rails on a railroad.

Gaining weight

Gaining is to increase the amount or rate of something. It looks like the faster trains are gaining on the slower train.
