This week your child is learning the words are desert, javelina, snout, and cactus. The words come from the book, The Three Little Javelinas.
Explain what the words mean and talk about them with your child.
Desert – a very dry place with few plants. Javelinas live in the desert.
Javelina – a type of wild pig. Javelinas have snouts and live in the desert.
Snouts – the front part of an animal’s head that sticks out. Pigs, javelinas, dogs, and elephants (and many other animals) have snouts.
Cactus – a thick-stemmed, often prickly plant that grows in hot, dry areas of America. A cactus has prickly needles.
Congratulations, you are helping your child grow a large vocabulary!
