This week your child is learning the words hammer, saw, carpenter, and plumber. The words come from a book about building a house. Explain what the words mean and talk about them with your child.
Hammer – a tool with a heavy metal head on a handle. A hammer is used to hit things such as nails.
Saw – a tool with a thin metal blade that has sharp teeth along one edge. A saw is used to cut wood or other things.
Carpenter – a person who builds or repairs houses and other things made of wood. This carpenter is carefully measuring the wood.
Plumber – a person whose job is to work on pipes that carry water through buildings. This plumber is fixing a sink.
Congratulations, you are helping your child grow a large vocabulary!
