Learn to teach by observing and teaching within classrooms

  • Gain valuable hands-on teaching experience in urban middle or secondary school classrooms immediately at the outset of the program and for an entire academic year
  • Share your knowledge of and enthusiasm for science, mathematics, Special Education, or Spanish with students
  • Observe and teach in different classroom contexts, subjects, and grade levels



Receive ongoing professional support during and after the program

  • Work with an experienced mentor teacher 
  • Work closely with a coach, professors, and program staff members
  • Join a cohort of peers who will support and motivate each other during and beyond the residency year
  • Receive ongoing professional development, including an initial week-long summer institute and post-graduation support
  • Commit to three years of science, mathematics, Special Education or Spanish teaching (grades 4-12) in a high-need school in the School District of Philadelphia
  • Potentially earn graduate-level credentials to teach science, mathematics, or Spanish in grades 4-12
