Admissions Requirements

Applicants must have strong subject knowledge in science and/or mathematics. Typically, applicants have a major and/or minor in a STEM-related field.

 

GPA Requirement

Applicants are expected to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.0. 

Standard exceptions:

  • 3.5 undergraduate GPA during the final two years
  • Minimum of a 3.25 cumulative GPA in at least 9 credits of graduate work at an accredited university

Special exceptions: Applicants who do not meet regular admission criteria may be considered for a special exception if a compelling case can be made for admitting them.  These special exceptions will only be rarely granted.

 

Testing Requirements

In order to be considered for program admission, applicants must take and pass at least one subject area examination (i.e., science or mathematics) for Pennsylvania State teacher certification. The specific test names, test code numbers, and minimum pass scores are as follows:

Clearance Prerequisites

State and federal criminal background checks, a TB test, and a child abuse clearance are required to be eligible to complete the program.
