STEM and Spanish Candidates – Praxis and Prerequisites
Special Education Candidates – Undergraduate Degree (Please Note: Although Temple University does not require a passing Praxis score for admission purposes, our partner, The School District of Philadelphia, requires that candidates pass any Praxis before the start of the residency program (Summer II Term.)
Applicants are expected to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.0.
- 3.5 undergraduate GPA during the final two years
- Minimum of a 3.25 cumulative GPA in at least 9 credits of graduate work at an accredited university
Special exceptions: Applicants who do not meet regular admission criteria may be considered for a special exception if a compelling case can be made for admitting them. These special exceptions will only be rarely granted.
State and federal criminal background checks, a TB test, and a child abuse clearance are required to be eligible to complete the program. All residents must obtain and pass all clearances necessary to be able to work in the classroom with students. See Required Clearances for Working in Pennsylvania Schools for more information.
