12\u201317-year-old middle and high school students from the School District of Philadelphia are eligible.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span>What will I be asked to do if I decide to participate?<\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/div>

Youth will be asked to participate in a 60-90 minute interview, during which time they will complete the Essential Teen Needs survey and talk through their thoughts about the survey questions with a Research Team member.\u00a0 The goal of the interview is to make sure that the questions are understandable and relevant to youth.\u00a0 After the interview, we will also ask you to do a brief follow-up phone call the next day.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

\n\t\t\t\t\t
<\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span>What does the survey cover? <\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/div>

The survey includes questions where teens rate how much their needs were met in the last year.\u00a0 There are four categories of needs: social\/emotional, adult structure and support, physical needs, and safety needs.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

\n\t\t\t\t\t
<\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span>Where and when will interviews be conducted?<\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/div>

Interviews will be scheduled individually at a time convenient for the youth. Interviews will be conducted in a private setting, either in person or via web conference (Zoom).\u00a0 Examples of where the interview can take place include a school classroom, library study room, home, or Temple conference room.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span>Do I need to have certain technology to participate?<\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/div>

Access to a laptop, Zoom app, and the internet are required for web conference interviews. If you decide to do a zoom interview, you will also need a working camera.\u00a0 (We require cameras to be on for zoom interviews). If you do not have access to this technology, we can do the interview at our Temple location or at your school.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span>Will I get paid for participating in this study?<\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/div>

Participants who complete the interviews will receive a $40 gift card for their time.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span>Will I be reimbursed for travel expenses? <\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/div>

Unfortunately, we are unable to reimburse participants for travel expenses.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span>How do I enroll in this study?<\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/div>

To enroll, please complete our project contact form<\/a>.<\/em>\u00a0Once this is complete, we will get in touch with your parent or legal guardian to screen to ensure you are eligible, and get their permission for you to participate. In phase 3, we will recruit about 12-30 youth.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span>What is needed to enroll? <\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/div>

First, we will ask that either you or your parent complete a contact form.\u00a0 After that, we will reach out to your parent to complete short screener Parental permission (informed consent) is required to participate.\u00a0 In addition, youth must agree to participant.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

The School District of Philadelphia is partnering with Temple University in support of this project.\u00a0 They have reviewed and approved our study protocol.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>
