Thinkdemic is an epidemiology education platform that is used for the Technology-linked Epidemiology Education Network research study. By implementing evidence-based techniques such as blended learning and team-based projects with full online collaboration, student engagement and outcomes are improved. Thinkdemic focuses on teaching students how to correctly frame and solve problems using real research and data collection. It comes equipped with pre-written, interactive assignments for students. Each lesson captures students’ attention by telling the story of real-world public health events while also illustrating epidemiology in action.
Thinkdemic is created by Zynect.
We believe that providing individuals and organizations with actionable information for improved decision-making and educational purposes improves outcomes, education, and science as a whole. Headquartered in Ithaca, NY, the small team of software developers and engineers are passionate about having a positive impact on the world. In 2010, Zynect began as Wicked Device, providing tech enthusiasts with makers kits. In 2012, Air Quality Egg, an indoor and outdoor air quality monitor with an accompanying education platform emerged to educate individuals and students about the impact of air quality on our health and the environment. The first version of the Air Quality Egg is in the permanent collection of the Vienna Museum of Applied Art. In 2020, Zynect Sensors, a line of Wi-Fi, battery-operated sensors, and supporting software alert systems continue to drive Zynect’s mission of sustainability. For the Technology-linked Epidemiology Education Network research study, Zynect teamed up with Temple University epidemiologists and education experts to provide an accessible online platform for educating tomorrow’s STEM-Ph leaders. Zynect is grant funded by the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation.
