Torin Johnson is an award-winning engineer and project manager whose career blends technical expertise, leadership in public infrastructure, and a passion for sustainable community development. Currently an Assistant Project Manager at GFT, Torin supports complex engineering initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, collaboratively, and with long-term impact in mind.
Torin’s engineering journey began at Temple University, where he earned both his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Engineering Management. His early career included design and supervisory roles at the Philadelphia Water Department, where he contributed to innovative solutions in water infrastructure, advancing environmental sustainability for one of the nation’s largest cities.
A driving force in his career has been his long-standing involvement with Engineers Without Borders (EWB). As President of the EWB Philadelphia Professional Chapter (2019–2023), Torin led initiatives that brought sustainable engineering solutions to communities in need while mentoring young engineers to become leaders in global development. His leadership extended back to his student years at Temple, where he served as President of the university’s EWB chapter, laying the groundwork for his community-driven impact.
Beyond his professional roles, Torin has been recognized for his leadership and service. He was named to Temple University’s 30 Under 30 in 2022, highlighting his contributions as both an engineer and a changemaker. His skills span technical design, project management, and cross-cultural collaboration—strengths he has leveraged to bridge engineering expertise with community resilience.
Guided by a philosophy that engineering should uplift people and communities, Torin continues to champion sustainable development, mentorship, and inclusive leadership in every project he undertakes.
