Dr. Rashonda Harris is a nationally recognized thought leader, distinguished speaker, author, and educator with nearly three decades of expertise in sponsored research administration. As Founder & CEO of Purple Sheep Consulting, she leads a mission-driven firm dedicated to advancing research enterprises through strategic consulting, inclusive leadership development, and innovative training programs.
She currently serves as Senior Consultant at Maximus, where she provides expert guidance on compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, leads consulting projects, and delivers high-impact solutions that enhance operational efficiency and reduce organizational risks. In parallel, she is a Faculty Member at Johns Hopkins University’s Advanced Academic Programs, teaching graduate-level courses on research administration, compliance, and project management.
Previously, Dr. Harris held senior leadership roles at major institutions including Penn State University, the University of Connecticut, Emory University, and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute. Over her career, she has stewarded nearly $1 billion in sponsored funding, led award management operations across multiple universities, and implemented systems and policies that strengthened compliance, internal controls, and audit readiness.
A committed advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), she has contributed to national initiatives advancing inclusive practices across professional organizations. She also mentors emerging leaders, shaping the next generation of research administrators through teaching, consulting, and professional service.
Dr. Harris holds an EdD in Learning and Organizational Change from Baylor University, an MBA from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, and multiple professional certifications in management, leadership, and research administration. Her distinguished career has been recognized with honors such as the Julia Jacobsen Distinguished Service Award, the NCURA Executive Leadership Program recognition, and the Emory Research Administrator Spotlight Award.
