About the Study
The Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion is looking to recruit participants for a paid research study on Taking Action for college students with mental health challenges. Taking Action is a peer-delivered intervention designed to promote wellness, stability, and recovery of individuals with mental health conditions. You will learn about actions you can take to maintain wellness, what to do if you experience situations that are triggering for you, and what you and others can do if you experience a crisis.

Are You Eligible to Participate?
You may qualify if:

- You’re enrolled in a U.S. college with at least 2 semesters left
-
- You’re 18 years or older
-
- You’re experiencing significant mental health challenges
-
- You have consistent access to a computer or smartphone and the Internet for communications
-
- You’ve never participated in a mental health recovery self-help education program known as “Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP)” or “Taking Action”
Participants must also be available for all groups at either of the following times:
- Mondays 5-7:30pm EST (March 9 – April 6)
- Thursdays 5-7:30pm EST (March 12 – April 9)
What Does Participation Involve?Â
If you agree to participate in this study, you will will:

- Participate in 3 online research interviews (baseline, post-intervention, and 3-month follow-up)

- Questions will ask about your mental health and academic experiences
-
- Each interview lasts about 1.5 hours

- Interviews can be completed on your own or with a research assistant via videoconference (Zoom)

- Participate in 3 online research interviews (baseline, post-intervention, and 3-month follow-up)

- Join 5 weekly group sessions (if assigned to the intervention group), where you’ll work on wellness planning—group sessions are delivered via videoconference for your convenience!

- Receive information about how to be successful in college (if assigned to the control group)

- Build a personalized wellness toolbox

- Learn how to plan for triggers, early warning signs, and crisis times

- Develop advanced wellness action plans and crisis strategies

- Connect with peers in similar situations, offering mutual support

Get Paid for Your Participation
You’ll be compensated up to $105 in e-gift cards for completing the study interviews. Here’s how:

- $25 for the baseline interview

- $30 for the post-intervention interview

- $35 for the 3-month follow-up interview

- Bonus: $15 completion reward!
