Engage in sustainability with the following resources!

Conserve Energy Future – Randy Le

The sustainability movement not only affects the social structure we live in, but it also affects our everyday lives on earth. In similar ways the movement began, there are many ways an individual can be involved with the movement and help the movement through lifestyle changes. Rinkesh Kukreja is an advocate for sustainability and has published many articles on sustainability on his Conserve Energy Future website. These articles include information on the threat of climate change, global warming, and other harms to our environment that can be addressed if everyone puts an effort in. In addition, the article not only shows to live more eco-friendly but also explains why specific methods are better in helping the environment. Earth Day.orgJacqueline Devone

A major part of the sustainability movement is the effort the members make to teach people the small ways in which they can help support it. Earth day helps with this effort by organizing a specific time for people to pitch in. There are many different activities that are a part of the earth day celebration, and some of these include starting a garden, going to a sustainability movement rally, beginning a compost, planting trees, and doing beach clean-ups. Having a specific day to organize events of this manner allows there to be dozens of them on Earth day. Earth day is also an opportunity for people to learn more about the earth and what should be done to take care of it better. Because Earth day is only once a year, it is easy for people to have limited information about it, but Earth Day.org is a website that gives history on earth day, provides a map of earth day related events, and generally gives lots of info on Earth day and the sustainability movement. Its a great resource to begin to dip your toe in the movement, so be sure to click the link above to give it a look.

Zero Waste – Maddi

One huge aspect of the sustainability movement is trying to limit the amount of waste we produce on a day to day basis. This helps combat the huge amounts of trash polluting the earth and filling landfills. The “Zero Waste” movement is like a submovement of the sustainability movement, and it encourages others to adopt aspects of the zero waste lifestyle to help protect the environment. The website below explains why zero waste is a good choice, because it lowers the demand for single use products thus creating less trash and pollution. It also gives tips on how you can adopt zero waste habits to help the movement.
