Student organizations are all over Temple’s campus, with events constantly being held as each semester rolls on. https://temple.campuslabs.com/engage/ is the best place for students looking to get involved with a student-run club or organization to visit. Search around for topics that interest you and register to join! Many of these clubs are also active on social media platforms like Discord or Instagram, helpful avenues to explore when looking for information on the next club event or gathering.

I personally joined Klein College’s COMM-Club, an organization dedicated to helping Klein students succeed and discuss classes, study advice, upcoming Temple/Klein events, and so much more. This past October, the COMM-Club held a fun Halloween get-together, where we painted pumpkins, old record vinyls, enjoyed some candy, and listened to some spooky tunes! The event also served as a great way for members of the club to get to know each other, while simultaneously allowing for a mental pause from stresses of the semester.

Myself with some members of the COMM-Club as they showed off their Halloween-themed art designs!

Getting involved with a student-run organization is one of the best ways a new Temple student can succeed on campus. It allows you to get to know some of your fellow students, explore a passion or interest, and most importantly, learn and develop important skills that will stick with you for the rest of your career and life. Members of these clubs can also help to answer questions you may have about life at Temple, how to improve your studying habits, and how to participate even more in extra-curricular activities. By reaching out to your peers in this way, you are helping yourself to succeed as a student, in your career, and as Dr. Gratson says, you are ingratiating yourself in the COMM-unity by participating!
