How does scientific knowledge differ from other forms of knowledge? How is science related to politics and society? Can science make progress? How is scientific legitimacy established?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;Honors Interdisciplinary Minor in Science, Technology and Society&nbsp;(STS) is an interdisciplinary 18-credit undergraduate minor offered through the Honors Program and designed for students eager to tackle the critical challenges of the 21st century that are simultaneously social, political, scientific, technological, ethical, and economic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Understand how science shapes our world<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Think about&nbsp;the nature of science and its distinction from other forms of knowledge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Examine pressing political and social issues such as climate change, nuclear proliferation, artificial intelligence, mental health, and personalized and public medicine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage with a cross-section of Temple faculty from across various disciplines, including biology, physics, computer science, psychology, anthropology, neuroscience, and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Four&nbsp;Key Areas for Science, Technology, and Society Inquiry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>History and Philosophy of Science\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health and Society\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Environment, Infrastructure, and Society\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communication, Science, and Public Policy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background\"><a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.temple.edu\/honors\/academics\/honors-interdisciplinary-minors\/science-technology-society#\">Take the next step!
