
Dr. Ruff continues to serve as an AssociateProfessor with the College of Science and Technology (CST.) In the realm of Student Services, he has built the capacity to advise and service all CST majors in the college, a resource that extended from his initial role as a College Advisor, dating back to November 2008 . Since 2013 Dr. Ruff also served as an Instructor, Director, Faculty Advisor, Advisor of the TUteach Program, where he was prescribed to mentor and advise students who aspired to become certified teachers in Pennsylvania. His Doctoral research cites his aspirations and work towards implementing effective and sustainable advising metrics within teaching constructs to support student retention and student persistence to graduation.
Dr. Ruff’s commitment to Student Services is further realized by his Doctoral work. He infused an Advising-Teaching construct into the CST 1001 First Year seminar course. Having spent fourteen (14) years in public education as a decorated teacher of middle grades mathematics, as an Assistant Principal and School Principal. His work also cites his aspirations to align teaching with effective and sustainable advising metrics in a classroom setting. In 2017 he extended his research by crafting the CST 2001 Transfer Seminar course for the college.
In 2019 Dr. Ruff’s Doctoral research came to fruition, as both the CST 1001 First Year Seminar and CST 2001 Transfer Seminar courses became graduation requirement(s) for all matriculating undergraduate students in the College of Science and Technology.
