Undergraduate teaching and research
Undergraduate Research Opportunities
We currently offer research opportunities in two areas of research. These projects are also part of the offerings through the Research Scholars Program at Temple.
Neuro-VISOR
Neuro-VISOR is a project where we are developing a virtual neuroscience laboratory in which researchers can run simulations of electrical signal processing of neurons in an interactive real-time setting. Undergraduate researchers have been major contributors to this project in areas of virtual reality visualization/user interaction, mathematical methods, and high-performance computing.

Biofilms
We are researching the ability of biofilms to reorganize and build protective environments, e.g. to antibiotics. This has many important implications for how the human body responds to external stressors and may shed more light on antibiotic resistance. Undergraduate researchers have been involved in developing image analysis tools, which are now being used by the broader research community.
