Many Chicago residents are making upwards of $100,000 per year in income, some even venturing into the millions, while others are at a much lower annual income rates. The average household annual income in Chicago is $52,497. This number however is full out outliers, including the income of 20.6% of Chicago residents which are living in poverty, as well as those who are making millions per year. Therefore it is hard to imagine what this number really is but it is important to recognize that 20.6% of those households in poverty are only earning up to $25,750 per year for a family of four. For an individual under the poverty line they are earning less than $12,490 per year, but there are many people earning much less than this figure. These numbers apply to the USA as a whole but can be clearly seen in Chicago where the income rates vary so drastically.
