My housing for the summer is located in a cul-de-sac with original 1930s CCC era houses built for park staff. Construction is ongoing to restore these houses and convert them into seasonal housing. My own house is from its own distinct era, likely built during the years of Mission 66. My roommate remarked that similar houses were built across the park system, and that our \u201chouse\u201d has served as his and friends\u2019 housing, park office, and dispatch across several different National Parks. While the deer was more than kind in cooperating for my photo, he\u2019s hardly unique here.
