Despite the event only taking up a block or two, a TON of thought and security goes into process due to the sheer number of people we expect.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This week few different park employees allowed me to interview them in order to gain a better perspective on the park. What\u2019s interesting is that no matter the employee, and no matter if they\u2019ve worked at 1 or 10 parks, everyone agrees this park is just <i>different. <\/i>It\u2019s hard to put a finger on, but it might be the urban setting, the millions of both domestic and international visitors, the large amount of employees, or our World Heritage Site Designation. <\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-C9-RyFU3w24\/W2hp7bYbczI\/AAAAAAAAABw\/k33O4QZMVV0MJSlQ0tEhRPVyi95vGIK7QCLcBGAs\/s1600\/2018-08-06%2B11.29.12.jpg\" style=\"clear: right;float: right;margin-bottom: 1em;margin-left: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1600\" data-original-width=\"900\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-C9-RyFU3w24\/W2hp7bYbczI\/AAAAAAAAABw\/k33O4QZMVV0MJSlQ0tEhRPVyi95vGIK7QCLcBGAs\/s320\/2018-08-06%2B11.29.12.jpg\" width=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>On shift, I witnessed a visitor pass out from heat exhaustion for the first time this summer. And then another, and another, and another&#8230;&nbsp; Especially during this heatwave, it seems like every hour a kid has thrown up in line or someone\u2019s gotten dizzy outside Independence Hall. <\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>After shift one day, the entire team had a <span style=\"background-attachment: initial;background-color: white;background-image: initial;background-position: initial;background-size: initial\">division meeting. <\/span>It was the first time I got to see almost every ranger in one room. The supervisors and Chief shared their updates and concerns, and field rangers did the same. I also got to meet our FBI liaison and learn more about when and how our federal agencies interact.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">Our resident bird, officially named &#8220;Bahawk Obama&#8221; by Twitter, can be seen flying around the Liberty Bell and Second Bank<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back to VRP!
