I arrived Tuesday May 17. After meeting the supervisory Ranger Tom Jones I will be working with for the summer, I was free to explore the park and surrounding areas. Wednesday through Friday I reviewed the park policies and went on in-depth tours of the park grounds and buildings. The first week had been a bit slow as we were waiting for the arrival of Cailin the other ProRanger assigned to Antietam. Next week will be a lot more exciting with the seasonal Ranger training we will be participating in and with increased duties with the law enforcement/protection staff. Antietam and the surrounding areas are full of history if you are a civil war buff. Can’t wait to learn more about the National Park Service and Antietam National Battlefield. Pictures to follow.
