{"id":581,"date":"2023-11-29T09:24:28","date_gmt":"2023-11-29T14:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/phbb\/?page_id=581"},"modified":"2025-08-12T09:54:24","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T13:54:24","slug":"phbb-travel-classes-3","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/phbb\/phbb-travel-classes-3\/","title":{"rendered":"PHBB Travel Classes Overview"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>If you are an undergraduate student in any College at Temple, you must register for the EPBI 3377 International Community Projects and EPBI 3387 International Travel Experience.<\/strong> <strong>Graduate students register for<strong> the EPBI 5387 International Action Project class<\/strong><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The classes are offered in the fall and spring semesters<\/strong>: 1) The fall class is followed by 2) the trip to India during the winter break; or 1) The spring class is followed by 2) travel to the Dominican Republic or Peru during the summer break<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In these classes, you will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Participate in the in-class development, and then the in-country delivery, and evaluation of educational and health promotion activities in partnership with the community. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be actively working with local university students to increase community capacity and project sustainability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in daily discussions to: \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Demonstrate awareness of your own cultural values and biases when partnering and developing interventions with global partners, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reflect critically on necessary communications and interpersonal skills to work cross-culturally in global settings, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop confidence and a global mindset through the implementation of health promotion activities,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build your intercultural capital and a global understanding that demonstrates a clear appreciation of cultural differences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This class meets once a week for two hours. Undergraduate students work in coordination with the graduate student mentor.
