The Developmental Science Lab was established in 2004 and is located in Weiss Hall on Temple\u2019s Main Campus in North Philadelphia.\u00a0 Research studies in the lab have addressed various questions, including how infants and children come to see other people as similar to (or different from) themselves.\u00a0 As part of this area of investigation, we have been interested in how the body is represented in the developing brain, and how “body maps” in the brain change with bodily growth and sensorimotor experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of our studies involve measuring brain activity using the electroencephalogram (EEG), with a particular focus on sensorimotor brain rhythms and brain responses to tactile stimulation. Much of our research has focused on infant development, although we have been exploring related questions in older children and adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
