{"id":3412,"date":"2011-10-05T10:44:44","date_gmt":"2011-10-05T10:44:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/libtest\/2011\/10\/05\/international_conference_on_ta\/"},"modified":"2013-10-24T16:26:56","modified_gmt":"2013-10-24T20:26:56","slug":"international_conference_on_ta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/performingartsnews\/2011\/10\/05\/international_conference_on_ta\/","title":{"rendered":"International Conference on Tango"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 align=\"center\"><b>Tango: Creation, Identification, Circulation<br \/>\nParis<br \/>\n26 to 29 October, 2011<br \/>\n<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The conference is organized by the Centre de Recherches sur les Arts et le Langage (CRAL, UMR 8566 CNRS \/ EHESS) and the ANR program GLOBALMUS.<\/p>\n<p>This event will begin with a reception on Wednesday, October 26th from 19:30 pm in the bookstore El Sal\u00f3n del Libro (21 rue des Fosses St-Jacques, Paris 5 \u00b0) and ends on Saturday 29th at 13:00 pm with toast served at the CRAL (96 bd Raspail, Paris 6 \u00b0). Most debates take place in the amphitheater of the Maison des Cultures du Monde (101 bd Raspail) and rooms 7 &amp; 8 of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (105 bd Raspail). For more information, write to: <a href=\"mailto:colloque@globalmus.net\">colloque@globalmus.net<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This international conference, which languages will be French, English and Spanish, will gather together in Paris researchers working on the tango and its various aspects (music, dance, poetry) from diverse disciplinary orientations (historical, sociological, anthropological, musicological). Also included are debates with professional musicians and dancers: two round tables are planned for this purpose as well as a concert organized by the Association Buenos Aires sur Sc\u00e8ne in the hall of l&#8217;Ermitage (8 rue de l&#8217;Ermitage, Paris 20 \u00b0) and a milonga (tango dance), organized by the associationBaires de Retour in the P\u00e9niche Demoiselle (57 quai de Seine, Paris 19 \u00b0).<\/p>\n<p>The conference will focus on three contemporary scientific themes concerning tango:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">Creation: aesthetic trends of current tango; a history of creative initiatives; links with means of expression and techniques of the body; tensions between creation and tradition, invention and homogenization;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">Identification: national identities; nomadism and diaspora; \u201cblack\u201d origins of the tango and the question of metissage; political uses and claims of autonomy; questions of gender and sexuality;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">Circulation: technological resources in the context of globalization; new means of broadcasting and their effects on the pedagogy and interpretation of tango; commercial strategies and alternative networks; the impact of naming tango as cultural heritage.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This interdisciplinary conference, organized by the Center for Research in Arts and Language (CRAL, EHESS-CNRS) and affiliated with the ANR GLOBALMUS research program, takes place after UNESCO\u2019s official recognition of the tango as international Intangible Cultural Heritage.<\/p>\n<p>The organization of this event was made possible thanks to the work of the CRAL \/ Globamus with El Sal\u00f3n del Libro, the Maison des Cultures du Monde, Buenos Aires sur Sc\u00e8ne, the Association Baires de Retour and equipment Patrimoine et Langages Musicaux of Paris IV.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">The Scientific Committee is composed by Christophe Apprill (Centre Norbert Elias), Carmen Bernand (Paris X), Denis Constant-Martin (Science Po Bordeaux &#8211; Globamus), Didier Francfort (Universit\u00e9 Nancy 2), Julien Mallet (IRD-Globamus), Rafael Mandressi (CNRS-Centre Koyr\u00e9), Emmanuelle Olivier (CNRS-CRAL-Globamus), Michel Plisson (PLM &#8211; Paris IV) and the organizers Marina Ca\u00f1ardo (EHESS-UBA), Sophie Jacotot (CRAL) y Esteban Buch (EHESS-CRAL)<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tango: Creation, Identification, Circulation Paris 26 to 29 October, 2011 The conference is organized by the Centre de Recherches sur les Arts et le Langage (CRAL, UMR 8566 CNRS \/ EHESS) and the ANR program GLOBALMUS.
