By Brene Brown

This is the first book I’ve listened to by Brene Brown. Very good stuff. In my opinion a lot of non-fiction books are fluffed up and are a lot longer than they need to be. Not this one. Brene is a researcher and she presents her findings in a clear and concise manner. Personal anecdotes are peppered throughout the chapters to bring clarity and humanity to the lessons.

The thrust of the book is about living an authentic life. One of the greatest barriers to that is shame. Shame wants us to be isolated and hidden, but the way to combat shame is to share it with others. There’s a LOT of other really great information in the book and I’m looking forward to going through it again (this time in print so it’s easier to stay focused instead of being distracted by the knucklehead in the other car).
