Hidden Motives in Everyday Life
By Kevin Simler, and Robin Hanson
This is a paradoxical book. It’s both fascinating book and rather dull at the same time. The book talks about our hidden motives and exposes why we think/behave in certain ways (i.e. If you receive bad news at the doctor, why don’t you remember the bad news a couple of weeks later? Why have you convinced yourself that your test results were normal?). What originally started as a PhD thesis was turned into a sort-of self-help book.
