Beginning in the fall of 2026, Temple Rome will offer 18 different four-year undergraduate degree programs from five of Temple\u2019s schools and colleges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students who attend Temple University Rome and find that they do not want to leave are about to have their wish granted. For four years, at least. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beginning in the fall of 2026, for the first time ever, Temple Rome will offer a comprehensive array of four-year bachelor\u2019s degree programs. This is a significant change for the campus, which has primarily served as a location for students from Temple\u2019s Main Campus and 40 different colleges and universities around the U.S. to attend a semester abroad or start their undergraduate degree through the Temple Rome Entry Year Program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a significant milestone for both Temple Rome and the university as a whole,\u201d said Temple President John Fry. \u201cIt also reflects our continued commitment to ensuring that more students can have access to the excellent education that is a hallmark of the university as we will have the ability to reach entirely new audiences of students. Global engagement has always been one of our key priorities, and this helps further position Temple as a globally connected university. We have seen tremendous growth with Temple Japan in recent years, and I fully suspect we will see that same momentum in Rome.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The addition of bachelor\u2019s degree programs comes at a time when Temple Rome has celebrated several milestones. In September 2024, Temple Rome opened its new campus at Piazza di Spagna, one of the most notable landmarks in the Eternal City. And, as of January 2025, the campus now has a 50-bed residence hall that is available to first-year students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, this fall, Temple Rome enrolled 228 students<\/a>, which includes 38 first-year students, and expects over 300 students this coming spring. First-year students, who are part of the Temple Rome Entry Year Program<\/a>, spend the entire academic year in Rome and will have the opportunity to celebrate another milestone\u2014the beginning of the celebration of Temple Rome\u2019s 60th anniversary in 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur expansion of Temple Rome\u2019s curriculum is the natural next step,\u201d said Dean of Temple Rome and Vice Provost of Global Engagement Emilia Zankina. \u201cWe are providing a pathway for both U.S. and international students to earn an accredited U.S. degree while living and learning in Rome, a place where ancient history and modern Europe converge. Immersion in this rich global setting is the perfect way to prepare students for success in an international career.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Beginning next fall, Temple Rome will partner with five of Temple\u2019s schools and colleges to offer a total of 18 different four-year undergraduate degree programs. A full listing of those degree programs is as follows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The blueprint for Temple Rome\u2019s success can be seen through its sister campus, Temple University Japan (TUJ), which is headquartered in Tokyo and opened a satellite location in Kyoto in 2025. TUJ, the oldest and largest branch campus of a foreign university in Japan, has seen its undergraduate enrollment nearly triple over the last three years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n As of this fall, TUJ\u2019s enrollment is 3,545, which is up from 2,777 students last year. This includes more than 650 new first-year students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis important new program in Rome will open up significant opportunities for faculty and students,\u201d said Interim Provost David Boardman. \u201cPreparing students to be successful in a global society is a key aspect of Temple\u2019s educational promise.
