For example, if you are looking for a marketing job and are applying to marketing jobs in two different fields, such as healthcare and higher ed., you might consider creating a healthcare and an education version of your resume.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Apply to jobs as soon as possible <\/em><\/strong>as early resumes are reviewed by humans rather than AI.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Search for jobs that require more than one language<\/em><\/strong> if you speak a second language.&nbsp; Consider your second language an asset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Stay optimistic<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; Realize that you need to apply for many jobs to get an interview.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/campusphilly.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Campus Philly<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihphilly.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International House Philadelphia<\/a><\/em><\/strong> for career-related events.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Attend career events<\/em><\/strong> from Temple\u2019s Office of International Student Affairs. And reach out to Career Services at Temple.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Share <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihphilly.org\/employer-resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Employer Resources | IHP<\/a><\/strong>, which includes the info employers need to hire international students, with interested employers.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Take good care of yourself<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; Job hunting can be stressful so make sure to eat and sleep well and exercise.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 3: Network, Network, Network<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Reach out to people who may be able to help<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; Don\u2019t be shy. People often like to help and someday you can help others.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Leverage LinkedIn as a networking tool.&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;Post frequently so people are aware of your interests and create job alerts. Also, look both for people you know who are connected to jobs you are applying for and reach out.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Attend events where you can connect with alumni<\/em><\/strong> and connect with people who work at companies that interest you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 4: Interview Successfully<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Research<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>the company interviewing you<\/em><\/strong> before your interview.&nbsp; Use AI to assist you.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Promote yourself <\/em><\/strong>and your key skills openly in the interview.&nbsp; Don\u2019t be shy about pointing out the strength of your skills.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>If you have an accent, leverage it as a strength<\/em><\/strong> to promote your bilingualism.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Follow up<\/em><\/strong> with individualized thank you notes to all the people who interviewed you.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Tips gathered from the Employer Insights for International Students event organized by Temple\u2019s Office of International Student Affairs on March 31, 2025.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Lisa Z.
