{"id":2783,"date":"2023-05-05T13:35:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-05T17:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/owltopia\/?p=2783"},"modified":"2023-06-21T16:11:16","modified_gmt":"2023-06-21T20:11:16","slug":"temple-student-gets-career-boost-from-three-graphic-arts-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/owltopia\/2023\/05\/05\/temple-student-gets-career-boost-from-three-graphic-arts-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Temple Student Gets Career Boost from Three Graphic Arts Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Chad Xuyuan Hu <br><\/strong>From: China <br>Major: Graphic and Interactive Design <br>Graduation: May 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Communication Arts magazine, a professional visual communications journal, recently awarded one of its prestigious 2023 64<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Communications Arts Illustration awards to<strong> Chad Xuyuan Hu. <\/strong>He received the award for his artwork, &#8220;Garden of Illusion&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hu\u2019s illustration, based on Michael Pollan&#8217;s New York Times article \u201cMichael Pollan Explores the Mind-Altering Plants in His Garden,\u201d depicts a crumbling garden with exotic plants and melting concrete.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winning this award, according to Hu, adds credibility to his portfolio and helps him stand out while opening doors to new opportunities ranging from freelance work to job offers.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis award is important to me because it validates my hard work and dedication as an illustrator, \u201d said Hu. \u201cI am happy to gain industry recognition,\u201d he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, Hu received the Graphic and Interactive Design Wild Card Award from Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple.
