What is NeuroHIV?

  • NeuroHIV is an umbrella term for nervous system problems that people living with HIV may experience. It includes memory and thinking problems, nerve problems, and mental health conditions. NeuroHIV adds to the health challenges of living with HIV. Both HIV and NeuroHIV have a larger impact on communities of color. These communities have less access to health care and are more likely to experience other challenges that can affect health, such as poverty.

What is the Community Partnership Core?

  • The Comprehensive NeuroHIV Center (CNHC) is a research center at Temple and Drexel Universities that is funded by the National Institutes of Health. The Community Partnership Core (CPC) is part of the CNHC. Its mission is to help bridge the gap between NeuroHIV research and the community.
    • Who We Are: The CPC creates partnerships between community providers, people living with HIV, and NeuroHIV researchers. Together, we are working to reduce NeuroHIV complications in communities that are most affected.
    • Our Mission Statement: The CPC’s mission is to create two-way communication channels to inform NeuroHIV science, engage affected communities in NeuroHIV research, and provide resources to those most impacted by NeuroHIV.
