Our Mission
- NeuroHIV and Health:
- NeuroHIV is an umbrella term for many different problems. Some people living with HIV may have difficulty with memory, while others may have problems with pain. They might experience problems with thinking, depression, nerve problems, and related conditions. These are called NeuroHIV complications, which add to the health challenges of HIV infection.
- These complications have a larger impact on communities of color, who are also disproportionately impacted by the HIV epidemic. They have less access to health care and are more likely to experience the impacts of other issues that can affect health, such as poverty.
- The Comprehensive NeuroHIV Center (CNHC) – a Center funded by the National Institutes of Health that is run by Temple and Drexel Universities – has developed the Community Partnership Core (CPC) to help bridge the gap between research that is being done on NeuroHIV and the communities that are affected.
- Who We Are:
- This core creates partnerships between community providers, individuals living with HIV, and NeuroHIV researchers. Together, we are working to reduce NeuroHIV complications in communities that are most affected.
- Our Mission Statement:
- The CPC’s mission is to create two-way communication channels to inform NeuroHIV science, engage impacted communities in NeuroHIV research, and provide resources to those most impacted by NeuroHIV complications.
