I am Neha Mittal, an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Statistics, Operations, and Data Science (SODS) at Fox school of Business.

I also serve as the Strategic Outreach Director at Translational Research Center at Fox, where I manage and support the case teaching and case writing initiatives at the school. I host the annual international business case writing competition and strongly believe in case methodology to teach both undergraduate and graduate students.

I teach courses in Operations Management/ Management Science, and Transportation and Logistics Management. My research focuses on freight transportation and primarily deals with logistics planning, transportation sustainability, and network optimization.

Research

My core research interests are – freight transportation (maritime and truck transportation) and I enjoy exploring network optimization, cost minimization, and environmental sustainability initiatives under different freight modes.

I have published a few journal articles on the idea of “Inland-Depots-for-Empty-Containers (IDEC-system)”, as well as related to other international logistics issues. For the past few years, I have developed a keen interest in writing and teaching using case studies.

Most of my cases are in the field of logistics management, operations, and strategy, but a few are related to ethics, and adopting successful marketing strategies to excel in today’s world.

Here is a list of teaching cases and journal articles I have published so far.

Teaching

I strongly believe in Ken Bain’s statement that “The best teaching is often both an intellectual creation and a performing art”!

Intellectual creation means making lesson plans and materials that are interesting and helpful for learning. It’s like creating a puzzle that fits just right for students to understand and enjoy. On the other hand, the art of teaching (delivery) is like being a performer on stage – where you connect with your audience (students), grab their interest, and keep them engaged. A great teacher does both: creates smart materials and delivers them in a fun and engaging way.

Here is a list of courses I have taught.

More about me

I have a traveler’s soul!
