Merida is known for being the second queer-friendly city in Mexico. Metronormatively relies on queer individuals moving from rural areas to cities. Consequently, there is a lack of representation and visibility for LGBTQ+ folx in those spaces. I remember from the last documentary we saw, that LGBTQ+ individuals were afraid about homophobic remarks some might say to them, and they prayed to Sainte Muerte to help them. I wanted to mention this to possibly start a discussion about what the ramifications may be and general thoughts.
