Julienne has worked for over 55 years in atomic, molecular, and optical physics at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). \u00a0 He was a founding fellow of the Joint Quantum Institute (JQI) of NIST and the University of Maryland and is now an Emeritus Fellow. He is a leading expert on quantum phenomena associated with cold atoms, molecules, and ions, including the dynamics and precise characterization of cold collisions, their control by magnetic, electric, or electromagnetic fields, their role in quantum gases and in lattice structures, and the production and properties of ultra-cold molecules and their chemical dynamics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is a member of the&nbsp;<strong>National Academy of Sciences<\/strong>. &nbsp;He received the&nbsp;<strong>Davisson-Germer Prize&nbsp;<\/strong>of the American Physical Society in 2004 and&nbsp;<strong>the William F.
