About MAP

Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) at Temple University is a student oriented group whose goal is to examine and address issues of minority participation in academic philosophy. Though primarily led by graduate students, MAP also relies on faculty support and encourages undergraduate participation.

MAP at Temple University aims to address minority issues in philosophy regarding philosophy of gender, race, sexual orientation, class, and disability, as well as philosophy done from minority perspectives. Meeting formats include reading groups, film screenings, mentorship events for undergraduates or graduates, panel discussions, and workshops on issues including teaching and diversity, communication techniques, navigating stereotype threat or implicit bias.
