The Evolution of Voice Over: From Human Narratives to AI-Enhanced Experiences provides an insightful, if heavily abridged, overview of the advancement of voice over techniques across various media formats and how voice over has been implemented throughout history. Arriving at the modern era, the article discusses examples of how AI is currently revolutionizing the practice, painting the melding of human creativity with AI in a largely positive light, yet still encouraging readers, especially those aspiring to use the technology in their own work, to take care in preserving the sanctity of a genuine human voice within the industry, echoing the concerns of many media consumers who would rather not see AI implemented in these fields at all.
In all honesty, I was hoping that this article would go into far more depth in regards to the actual techniques and processes involved with enhancing voice work with AI. I found the whole thing to be very cursory, but some of the cited examples of AI implementation now have me considering whether or not to implement some elements of AI in my Proof-of-Concept assignment. Using an AI voice for the robotic character that will be shown may prove interesting, and as AI continues to appear more frequently in media and creative outlets, knowing how to produce and style it to appear authentic will no doubt serve my versatility in the job market.
I spent my production day on the script for the Independent Study course. By the end of the day today, I will have enough of the script completed to begin voicing/editing the Proof of Concept from which the script will be produced. I have not yet met with my committee members, as I spent the majority of last week in bed with a leg injury. I am planning to schedule some meetings this week in regards to requesting my chosen professors’ participation in my committee.
