MA Health Justice and Bioethics

The MA in Health Justice and Bioethics (MAHJB) program welcomes graduate applications from anyone who has earned a Bachelor’s degree.

Coursework is practical, theoretical, and methodological. Students discuss foundational health justice and bioethics concepts and cases, learn through observation and application of practical and methodological skills, and cement their learning through the writing and public presentation of their thesis.

MAHJB Courses & Timeline

The MA Health Justice and Bioethics is a 32-credit graduate degree consisting of six core classes, electives, and a thesis. Students can attend part-time or full-time and have up to 5 years to complete the degree.

Graduate students typically take 1-3 courses per semester, depending on their personal timeline. Most students complete the MA Health Justice and Bioethics in 2-3 years.

Throughout their time in the program, MAHJB students can also take advantage of extracurricular opportunities such as joining a walking tour of North Philadelphia led by faculty with deep ties to the neighborhood, or attending a presentation with tips on sharing their work at bioethics conferences and other public venues.

Students are further supported through a variety of presentations, workshops, and other resources, with the goal of developing individual, academic, and professional skills.
